Core Medicine of Idaho is excited to introduce another member to our team. David Sjostrand is a Family Nurse Practitioner with more than a decade of professional experience. He’s one of five former Saltzer Medical Group employees who made the decision to remain in Caldwell, where he plans to continue using his education and skills to help members of his hometown stay healthy.
David, like many of his Core Medicine colleagues, is no stranger to many of our neighbors. He was born and raised in Idaho, earning his associate’s degree in nursing from Treasure Valley Community College before completing his bachelor’s at Boise State University. After finishing his undergraduate education, David moved out of state for his higher studies, earning his master’s in nursing at the University of South Alabama.
Before making the move to our Caldwell urgent care, David obtained extensive clinical experience in a variety of settings. As a nurse, he helped care for patients in an intensive care unit. Now, as a Family Nurse Practitioner, he leverages his education and his strengths to treat people suffering from chronic conditions.
David has a special interest in behavioral health and firmly believes that the first step in offering effective care is taking the time to talk to patients about their concerns. “I feel that it’s important to have a good relationship, a good report,” he says. “I really enjoy spending time with patients to figure out what’s going on, and believe that connecting with them is probably one of the most important aspects of my job.”
Outside of work, David lives in Nampa with his wife, four children, and two dogs. He enjoys spending time with his family and in the great outdoors, and relishes the challenge of hands-on home improvement projects.
Meet the Other Members of the Core Medicine Growing Caldwell Team
David is one of five former Intermountain Health professionals who stayed in the Treasure Valley after Utah-based Saltzer Health closed its facilities throughout the area—leaving more than 30,000 patients without access to their old providers.
Core Medicine is continuing to work to fill the gaps left by Saltzer Health’s departure. We’re constantly striving to meet demand through our urgent care and family practice services, and have expanded our operations to ensure that all of our patients receive the fast, effective care that they deserve. Alon with David, we’re pleased to welcome:
- Tina Bossolono-Williams, FNPC, another Certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than 25 years of medical experience. Tina is passionate about providing care for children, treating autism spectrum disorders, and meeting the needs of Caldwell’s most vulnerable populations.
- Alex Casebolt, PA-C, a Certified Physician Assistant with nearly three decades of experience working in urgent care, primary care, occupational medicine, and regenerative medicine.
- Jennifer King, DNPC, a registered Doctor of Nursing Practice who has spent 25 years caring for pediatric patients, members of the transgender community, and people suffering with chronic migraines.
- Kari Lopez, FNP, a Nurse Practitioner with close to 10 years of experience in mental health, substance abuse treatment, and care management.
